This small sized barb is an excellent beginner aquariunists due to it is easy to keep, but be sure to buy at least six of them because they really do like to be kept in small groups rather than as individuals. Also ensure they are mixed with males and females. The males will spar with each other but ralely is any damage done to the chequer barbs, they are just getting their order with their shoal and want attract other fishes.

Ideal Conditions:

  • Water: Slighty acidic,slighty soft
  • Temperature: 64-73F (18-23C)
  • Food: small live or frozen aquatic invertebrates, such as daphnia, mosquito larvae, and blood worm. Flake foods. Green foods
  • Min number in the aquarium:6
  • Min Aquarium Size: 24inch (60cm)
  • Tank Region: Bottom to middle
